Course Description: This hands on course teaches students how to develop and deploy SharePoint 2010 sites and also teaches students SharePoint from the .NET developer's perspective. Many of the exercises in this course will use the SharePoint Designer, and the course will show students how to extend and enhance SharePoint implementations using ASP.NET technologies. It begins with a thorough examination of how SharePoint really functions under the hood, and how to configure new SharePoint environments. From there students learn the details of how to create new sites from scratch or by using site templates, and how to create web parts from scratch.

Hands on exercises will have students create common SharePoint components, such as lists, libraries, blogs, calendars, wikis, announcements and tasks. Later exercises will introduce students to integrating Microsoft Office products (including Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and supporting business intelligence reports and dashboards. Students will also learn how to implement business rules with workflows, and how to create workflows in the SharePoint Designer. Security and other important SharePoint administration topics are also examined.

Course Prerequisites: Familiarity with computers. Experience programming with .NET is not absolutely necessary, but is recommended.
